I think if you use honeysuckle bullets it should only impact the one who gets hit. Styx has been experimenting with them; I can ask him so we have some on hand.

I haven't tested any of my buffs on abilities here, to be honest, but I'm confident that it works on all abilities. So it should strengthen your vines when we need to hold him down. If you guys can get him into the pasture then subduing him and getting the wolfsbane into his system should be straightforward.
