I don't want to jinx it, but it's also good to have options in case of future emergencies. I wasn't sure what to expect from rituals and this...exceeded expectations in interesting ways.
Black collars can be flagrantly possessed to head one of those... torture games, and they will suffer the wrath of the pasture for it even if they were possessed.
It's not surprising we all have a firm "no torture allowed" preference. It doesn't stop the torture, though. I'd prefer it if the kids didn't have to go through that again.
Even though Patches was possessed, he still talked to me like his normal self and remembered events that happened a few days ago. In this case everyone was eager to make him pay because it seemed like the kind of thing he would do anyways. And I don't think you stumble into summoning a demon unwittingly. Even if he didn't expect to be possessed, he knew what he was doing to some extent.
[his whole body exudes Tiredness; the adrenaline from this morning has worn off and there's no keyed-up tension left in him. the nap pile has helped, but the mention of the ritual makes him weary. it's a lot to take in, a lot to think about. there's a furrow in his brow as he thinks about his interaction with Patches, however brief it was, and tries to recall any relevant information from standing back and observing during the game.
he is Too Calm about it in general, still--there are no telltale signs of shock or its aftereffects. but he's been fairly calm this whole time. he doesn't seem to relate anything about Patches' possession to his own momentary possession, either.]
( perci makes a tactical decision to leave this conversation as it is. he's too tired with the subject at hand and in general - he can shelve this and bring it up later when lethe isn't as tired. tired gives way to anger far too often and he knows that, even if he seems too calm which is. another can of worms. )
I just have no interest in witnessing wanton torture on either side. ( he'll make it a problem that he personally has rather than something he'll put on all of the pasture. ) Deserved or not, it brings back bad memories.
[the words don't ring as an endorsement of torture; just a quiet understanding of the anger that was built up behind it, in this very specific instance]
And hopefully that's the last time we have to deal with it. I don't think anyone here is looking to be intentionally cruel. A gentle reminder that might doesn't make right can go a long way, if you think we need to have that conversation with everyone.

My concern is how much of the pasture decides that a possessed person's actions are their own.

... who knows.
( either way, he's going to huddle into the cuddlepile again. but he's not going alone, electing to tug lethe along. )
Come. It feels better when we're all together like this.
