[looks at both of them, sober, like he’s fixing the new names into place in his memory]

[ He enunciates it slowly like the idiot English-speaker he is, making sure he gets it right.

Then he glances at Charon ]

Still, it feels a little uneven for me and Charon to give our last names and not you. If you don't have one you should make one up.

Being a bride would be better than you picking your own surname if that's how you're going to choose.
