We have side dishes that go with a main meal, but that's all for at home. I don't think I've been to any events that had them...but I might have thought it was just a dessert, judging from this one.

Something like this would be a dessert all on its own, usually. You can go out to dinner and then walk around town and stop by any ice cream shop for dessert.

That’s not so common where I’m from, though food shops and stalls do exist. I don’t remember many that sold ice cream or sorbet.

Even with magic and runes, it'd probably be difficult to keep the ice cream frozen out on a street stall unless you had specially made freezers. I bet you'd make a fortune selling a patent for that sort of thing back home. If you're looking for something to keep you occupied while there aren't any wars going on.
