What accomodations do you need for the egg, before and after hatching?

Before hatching I'd like to keep it in a warm nest, which is easy enough to make. After hatching I'd like to have a decently-sized bird cage for it, until it can fly around on its own and won't attack anyone. I think it'd be fine on the barn roof most of the time, but like with the bunnies, I want to have a safe spot for it inside.

If we can create beds and lamps through herd mentality, we can create a cage easily.

Do chicks require nighttime feedings?

It's been a while since I've worked with baby birds...

Baby chicks that haven't opened their eyes need to feed every three or four hours, I think. And once they open their eyes it's every...four to five hours? I'll have to check. Once they grow in their feathers they can eat two or three meals a day, which is roughly every six hours.

Would you like me to deal with the ones in the wee hours? I would most often be awake, anyway.

Sure, if you don't mind. I was going to keep them all in my room so the animals don't bother anyone, but should I put the cage somewhere else?

I can take it down with me at night, if you like, as I tend to work in the common room or kitchen.

That works. If it's too much trouble, though, feel free to let me know. I'm used to keeping that kind of schedule when I need to. I don't mind staying up for a few nights until it gets bigger.

I don't think you have to worry about me. I'm usually just getting up when you come tell me to make my bed. If anything, I'm worried I'll oversleep.
