Using your chakrams is fighting, sure. But footwork isn't exactly fighting even if it's part of it. Maybe it's better to call it dexterity? If you're sturdy on your feet you can dodge an attack; you can also intentionally draw someone or something's attention before you dodge that attack, if you're looking to keep hits off of your friends. Or you can draw attention and make a quick getaway before someone gets the chance to attack. You can do the opposite of all that too! You can sneak into someplace while someone else is drawing all of the attention.

All of those scenarios might still sound like situations where you'd be attacked, but they aren't necessarily ones where you'd have to fight back. You just have to think about what you can do when a situation comes up. Learning to think on your feet is the hardest part.

And you might not think of this as a skill...but you did just say that Red's only given you easy quests so far. That's a worthwhile ability to have too. If you can talk to Red or Miss Daisy or Blossom or anyone else here and get information out of them--that's way safer and more effective than any of us running into the mist.

As for little miss dandelion, I've just been calling her "Miss Apothecary". I didn't want to just pick a name for her, and she doesn't seem to care enough to pick one either.

I never thought of it like that... at least as far as the fighting goes. It just feels like people should be doing way more in those kinds of situations because that's what fight usually implies, right?

As far as Red goes, I don't know if he was just taking it easy on me or just thought it was funny, though. Like the slingshots are probably because he thought it was funny, but I have a picture of my family and all I had to do was hug someone. The chakrams were part of the concert.

[makes a "hmmmmm" noise as he thinks. his eyes mostly stay on the clouds as they chat, but he is looking around. she can tell when she's sitting this close. he tilts his head to listen to distant sounds and very casually turns his head to watch some movement out of the corner of his eye.]

I'm honestly used to dungeons, so it's hard to compare fighting at home to fighting here. In a dungeon everyone has something to do. There's a damage dealer to take out the big monsters, and of course there's usually a few people to offer support by acting as distractions, giving buffs, healing, or taking out smaller monsters in the area. But there are also people doing research, gathering supplies, looking after the injured, and keeping everyone on target. Helping out Miss Apothecary covers a few of those and it's something tangible, so it sounds like what you're looking for.

Maybe as a test you can ask Red about the sakura trees and see what kind of quest he gives you. If it's a pain you don't have to take it, obviously. But that's part of gathering data too! If we know for sure that he just gives easy quests for things he thinks are funny, we'd just have to give him an explanation that he finds amusing for whatever we want. Like, "I want to grow some sakura trees because I think it'll make Styx and Minuet get emotional and cry, which is funny."

He gives Yata stuff for pranks so that Yata can keep getting more prank stuff... I know that. I can test it out more, though, just to see.

[She hums for a moment, though, thinking.]

I never thought I'd be an actual fighter, anyway. The only thing I ever really wanted to do was go on stage and perform and wear sparkly dresses and—make people happy. It's kinda naive to think it's only just that, and I know that now, but... that's the sort of thing I like to do. It's the sort of thing I always wanted to do.

Zenith insists I have something to protect myself, though, and I get it. I don't even disagree with it. It just doesn't feel right... but not being able to do much doesn't feel great, either. That's why I'm gonna talk to the apothecary girl, though. We're gonna do some experiments to see if singing helps the limbus plant stay super fresh.

Basic self defense is still a must. Zenith has the right idea. Anything past that is up to you.

Besides, it shouldn't all be about strategy and survival and ways to help. If you only work and don't play, you'll get stressed out and wear yourself down. Do some stupid stuff every now and then too.

I feel like I don't remember how to do any of that. I've been working nonstop for so long now...

You're too young to be saying that. If I can have days where I relax and have fun, then there's hope for you yet. Do I need to plan fun days like I plan nap days?

I wish we had stuff like karaoke or have better ways to do purikura or something. That's the kind of stuff I used to do with my friends aside from get crepes or something...

Or we'd do those dance challenges kpop groups like to do. Tiktok filming... Most of that stuff doesn't exist here.

Most people here don't have a phone, let alone anything to film with. Even if we could get Tiktok filming here, it's probably not the same without a bunch of other people commenting, right? That's the draw of social media.

It'd be easy enough to ask for a karaoke lounge after a ritual though.

I guess... if Clover wins another one of those, we can. It'd fit our other choices of stuff like the gym and the arcade.

If you guys think of something better than karaoke, obviously you should go with that instead. But if we've got the necessities down, then there's no reason not to go for something fun.

I do owe Crois a clinic. I'm guessing Daffodil might be thinking along those lines already if he has anything to say about it. It doesn't hurt to have more than one barn thinking about it, though.

Aside from a clinic though, it'd be nice to have a conbini. I actually miss instant noodles.

I don't have anything against healthy food, but it's the only thing I've had in so long... even before I got here.

You're still growing, so of course you should be eating healthy! But this place is a bit...lacking in variety, so the healthy foods are all the same.

Tanabata was amazing because we could actually have something different...

The food really was the best! I miss it already. We had noodles.

We need more noodles! It's awful not having noodles! Or rice with everything...

We can kind of make noodles...I'm not confident in my skills for that, but it would at least be edible even if it's nowhere close to the proper thing. And Biscuit did give us a little rice! I've been rationing it, but it would be great to have more. I want to know where he got it, but I think it's a secret.
