[He's just sitting fully clothed on the edge of the pool.]
You've been trying very hard to permanently put yourself on top of the rankings for "newcomer most rapidly disillusioned by the weight of reality." ... I'm sorry everything has been so overwhelming.
[Eugene keeps his body mostly submerged when he enters the pool, trying to get as much healing as possible]
It's not something you have to feel sorry for. I'm not happy with it, but...pretty much all of it has been self-inflicted up to this point. I can only blame my own poor choices.
I'm not saying it wasn't a scam. It obviously was. The Showmaster got way more out of us than we did her. The exchange of information was far from even. But it is true that we all agreed to pick those squares, instead of picking none at all.
"Collectively" doesn't sound like you can blame only yourself and your own bad decisions.
This is a stupid argument that I won't keep perpetuating, but the problem is that you insisting on blaming yourself is also very stupid, and so it is stupid either way.

[He grumbles, but then sits up straighter.]
...and false. There's no conceivable reality where the happenings of that performance were "your own poor choices."
